DJ Edgar "El Travieso de la Salsa"
Born in Mexico and raised in a family of professional cumbia disc jockeys, or "Sonideros" as we call them. When he is mixing, it's not about the music that he likes nor about the latest song added to his collection — not even about how good the song might be — it's all about the crowd! When asked why he decided to DJ he says: “I love the music. I love the feeling of the music, the energy you can find in it, the sound, the trombones, the piano, and the connection you get with the dancers when you are DJing. As I connect with them, they transmit a certain energy which I shape and mold with my own energy and transmit it back through my selection of music. This continues back and forth. It sounds crazy, but it almost feels like I am dancing with everybody in the room at the same time.” If you haven’t heard him play yet, come to one of the All Vinyl Salsa Nights hosted at Century Ballroom where DJ Edgar is the resident DJ for the night and you will know why he continues to be invited back to all the major Salsa events in the Northwest. He is also a promoter and MC. |
