Seattle Salsa Congress Volunteer Program

Thank you for your interest in volunteer opportunities at this year’s Seattle Salsa Congress. The Seattle Salsa Congress will rely heavily on our volunteers to make the congress possible. It is only through the generosity of its hard working volunteers that we can provide the highest quality experience for our attendees. Your help is what turns our congress from just an idea into a enjoyable experience for everyone.

You don't have to wait until the actual event to get involved… join our volunteer pool early and help out with event planning! By donating your talent, time and expertise, you'll discover a new sense of appreciation for the event as well as an opportunity to meet people who share similar interests. While some volunteer positions call for specific skills and experience, most will only need enthusiasm, dedication, trust, sustainability, and creativity. Volunteers will have to make a minimum commitment of hours to receive benefits the following benefits, depending on hours and level of participation:

Each volunteer position offers its own unique rewards. Volunteering at Seattle Salsa Congress is an opportunity to meet people who share your love of salsa dancing, the arts, community service, close work with dedicated professionals, and teamwork all while enjoying great music and dance.

Expand the Circle:

Bronze Level Volunteer (24-Hours)
Description: The Bronze Level Volunteer (24-hours) is a great opportunity for individuals who want a limited time commitment. Most volunteer positions are easy to learn and do not require any previous experience in order to qualify for the assignment. Bronze Level Volunteers assist in all areas of the congress. Tasks will be assigned according to need and preferences.

• A full refund for a full access pass**
• The knowledge that you are part of a caring community that supports the arts.

Stipulations:
*The Volunteer t-shirts provided are to be worn during each shift.
**In order to receive a full refund for a full access pass, you will first need to purchase your full access pass during pre-registration online or onsite at the event. After you’ve completed your assignment please submit your timecard to your supervisor. If you paid for your full access pass onsite, you will be required to make a copy of your receipt and turn it in along with your timecard. If there is any discrepancy on your time card, you will be notified. It’s very important that you provide us with correct contact information to prevent any delays in receiving your reimbursement. Silver Level Volunteer (32-Hours)
Description: The Silver Level Volunteer (32-hours) is a great opportunity for individuals have the potential interest in becoming an Gold or Platinum Volunteer. If you are able to work this amount, the benefits and experience are invaluable. Most volunteer positions are easy to learn and do not require any previous experience in order to qualify for the assignment. Silver Level Volunteers assist in all areas of the congress. Tasks will be assigned according to need and preferences.

• $15 meal per diem
• The knowledge that you are part of a caring community that supports the arts.

Gold Level Volunteer
Description: The Gold Level Volunteers have been promoted from the Bronze or Silver Levels. They have likely volunteered for one or two years and demonstrated commitment and invaluable assistance. After a minimum of one or two congresses, Gold Level Volunteers may be promoted to the Platinum Level Volunteer status.*
*Promotion to Platinum Level Volunteer status may be automatic after two congresses, but it is based on available positions, performance, and recommendation. Acceleration to Platinum level is at the discretion of the Seattle Salsa Congress staff.

• A full access pass
• $15 meal per diem
• Hotel reimbursement (based on 4-person occupancy)**
• The knowledge that you are part of a caring community that supports the arts.

Stipulations:
*The Volunteer t-shirts provided are to be worn during each shift.
**If you are working towards a hotel reimbursement, the reimbursements are based on a 4-person occupancy. For example, if you have 3 people in a $99 per night room, Rumba Brava Productions will reimburse $24.75 per night. The cost of the hotel room is to be based on the Special Event code offered by the hotel for the event itself. The volunteer must make their own hotel reservation and payment.
Rumba Brava Productions will only pay for the cost of the room, plus tax. We will not pay for incidentals including parking, phone calls, room service, etc. Your hotel room reimbursement will be for the core event days only: Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Reimbursements for hotels will be paid by check and mailed within 4-6 weeks after the recipt of proof of payment. We will need your original final bill from the hotel. Please request a second copy from the hotel's front desk upon check-out and email to rumbabravapro@msn.com.

Platinum Level Volunteer
Description: The Platinum Level Volunteers have been promoted from the Gold Level. They have likely volunteered for one or two years and demonstrated commitment and invaluable assistance. After a minimum of one or two congresses, Gold Level Volunteers may be promoted to the Platinum Level Volunteer status.*
*Promotion to Platinum Level Volunteer status may be automatic after two congresses, but it is based on available positions, performance, and recommendation. Acceleration to Platinum level is at the discretion of the Seattle Salsa Congress staff.

• $30 meal per diem
• Hotel room to share with one other Platinum Level Volunteer or Congress staff
• The knowledge that you are part of a caring community that supports the arts.

Volunteer Policies
We ask that you act in the best interest of Seattle Salsa Congress, by respecting each attendee, volunteer, and staff member as an individual. Please help promote a safe and healthy environment while volunteering. Refrain from any deliberate act that may create danger, or an unhealthy situation towards any individual. This includes use of illegal drugs, assaulting another individual or disregarding their safety. If you know of anyone, who might be under the influence or conducting bad behavior, please report to Seattle Salsa Congress staff or security.
